LifeOS guide
All your life. Only on your phone.
Tasks, money, habits, prayer, Duas and notes in one app. Everything is encrypted on your phone and works without internet. There's no account to create.
Get started
- Install it. Open LifeOS in Chrome or Safari, then choose Add to Home screen (Chrome: ⋮ menu. Safari: the Share button). It opens like a normal app and works offline.
- Unlock. The first passcode is 1234. Type it on the watch keypad.
- Change your passcode right away. Go to Settings → Security → Change passcode. Your passcode is the key to your data, so pick one you won't forget.
- Lock any time with the lock button on Today. The app also asks for the passcode every time you open it.
The lock screen shows the time, the date and a countdown to the next prayer. The sun moves across the arc during the day, and the moon takes over at night.
Today, Money and Calendar
Monthly budget: set one in Settings → Money and Money shows how much is left.
The Life tab
Nine tools, each one tap away. Turn off the ones you don't use in Settings → Modules.
Prayer and Duas
Prayer times
- Open Life → Prayer. LifeOS starts with a city that matches your phone's time zone.
- Pick your own city under Location & method, or tap Find the nearest city to me. The calculation method is set for that country, and you can change it.
- If your town isn't listed, open My town isn't listed and enter its coordinates.
Times are calculated on your phone, so they work offline. They can differ by a minute or two from your mosque's timetable.
Duas
- Open Prayer → Duas to see the morning, evening and night Dua.
- Tap + to add your own Dua with Arabic, its meaning, a source and a picture.
- Set Use at to add it to the morning, evening or night rotation. Set Remind me daily at to get it at a time of your own, with its picture.
- Turn on Remind me under Daily Dua reminders and choose the three times.
Reminders
- Go to Settings → Notifications, turn on Enable reminders and allow notifications when your phone asks.
- Turn on Background push to get reminders even when LifeOS is closed. Tap Send a test push to check it works.
- Pick the time for the daily habit check-in in the same card.
What gets reminded: events (30 minutes before), subscription renewals, important dates, habits and Duas. With Background push on, only each reminder's title, time and short text are sent to the reminder server.
Keep your data safe
- Back up regularly: Settings → Backup → Export encrypted backup. Keep the file somewhere safe. You need your passcode to restore it.
- Moving to a new phone? Export on the old phone, then use Import backup on the new one.
- Optional cloud copy: Settings → Cloud sync sends an encrypted copy to your own server. The server never sees your passcode or your data.
Important: nobody can recover a forgotten passcode, including us. Without it your data can't be decrypted, so keep a backup.
Questions
I forgot my passcode
It can't be reset, because your data is encrypted with it. You can restore an encrypted backup if you remember that backup's passcode, or erase the app and start fresh.
Does LifeOS need internet?
No. After the first open, everything works offline. Internet is only used for Background push reminders, for the optional cloud sync, and to download app updates.
Where is my data stored?
On your phone, encrypted with your passcode. Nothing is uploaded, except reminder titles and times if you turn on Background push, and an encrypted copy if you set up cloud sync.
Reminders don't arrive when the app is closed
Turn on Background push in Settings and allow notifications. On Android, check that battery saver isn't blocking Chrome. Use Send a test push to check.
The app looks old after an update
Close LifeOS completely and open it again. It downloads the new version once and keeps working offline.
